Born on the 14th01st1966 in Nürnberg/Germany. I got conditionel by my parents, already at an early age with the virus-nature-infects. My principal interest was for the indigenous mammals, initial only with a field glass armed. Years later followed the ornithology. The innumerable experiences and the knowledge I acquired at this time, served me as an important basis for a successful animal photography.
With the beginning of my teaching 1982, my photographic career started in the nature photography. My first purchase start with one Canon A1 body and a f 5.6/400mm lens from Tokina. After this, I change to the Novoflex objective system, with 400 and 600mm lenses. I exclusively devoted myself to the mammal and bird photography at this time. 1993 start the entrance into the autofocus photography and the decision to work with the Canon system.
After a Florida vacation in the year 1994, I include the landscape and macro photography in my work. 2002, I work with two camera formats. A Hasselblad XPan panorama camera is being a part of the equipment, beside the Canon system.
Middle 2007, I start with digital photography and today I`am happy about this decision.
My photographically work has strolled strongly, when I looks back at the beginnings. Today, I almost work on topics and it is unimportant what I photograph, single kinds of animals, biotops, national parks or regions and countries. Photo journeys let me go to the western parts of Canada (Jasper-NP, Elk Island-NP, Waterton Lakes-NP, Banff-NP, Grasslands-NP and Kluane-NP), to the USA specially Florida (Everglades-NP, Sanibel Island and many preserves) to Alaska (Denali-NP, Katmai-Peninsula and South East Alaska “Pacific Coast, Juneau and Hyder Fish Creek), Poland, Skandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finnland, Denmark), Austria, Spain, Majorca and the Netherlands. In Germany I photograph intensive in my native country Schleswig-Holstein. One of my favorite topics is the mudflat landscape on the northsea coast. Other areas in Germany like the Harz Mountain, you also find in my photographic work.
Why nature photography?
Already at an early age, I have spent each free minute somewhere outside in the free nature and again and again, I have had exciting experiences. I remember one winter day. Six Red deer bulls crossed the lane and only after they had eyed my paucity substantially, the proud animals continue their way without haste. At those moments, I missed a camera in my hands. These and countless other observations should be the motives to start with the nature photography. The hunter in me was awake, but quickly I had to recognize, that the animal photography was an ardnous venture, before the desired success adapted. It was very heavy, to take good pictures, I lost many beautiful motivs. But unforgettable were the successful moments. The feeling of happiness after successful photo stalk was and is indescribable. With the age, the viewpoint of my photographic work changed. The photography got more sensitive and critical, other perspectives and targets moved into the foreground. Today, I try to show the people the beauty of nature in their own and in other countries. They should know, that it is one of our important targets, to protect the nature in our world. I wish the visitor of my website a lot of joy. Note of thanks.
