If somebody sees something on his raids which is impressive and raised, he pauses in a devout silence for a moment. For him it isn't necessary to hallow one of seven days because for him every day is sacred.

Bird photos - New pictures from our flying friends, 18 Jan 2021

In Central Europe, the breeding season of the Eurasian eagle-owl begins at the end of February and in March - (European eagle-owl - Photo Eurasian eagle-owl typical silhouette against the night sky)Long-eared owl, the average clutch size is 4 - 6 eggs - (Lesser Horned Owl - Photo Long-eared owl at the roosting place)Despite many park visitors, the Long-eared owl is not disturbed at the wintry roosting siteEurasian eagle-owl is a largely nocturnal predator - (European eagle-owl - Photo Eurasian eagle-owl at dusk, it will soon go hunting)Long-eared owl, its food is mainly rodents, other small mammals and birds - (Lesser Horned Owl - Photo Long-eared owl at roost with eyes open, a rare sight during daytime)A male European Greenfinch has opened the rosehip of a Beach Rose to get the nutritious seeds

Besides a large number of new pheasant pictures, other bird species have been added. Among others the Sanderling is worth mentioning. A small wader that constantly walks along the beach and reminds of a rolling tennis ball. Camera manufacturers should not test the performance of their autofocus systems on sports cars or similar, but on this little bird. If the autofocus is correct 10 times at 100 frames it is acceptable. Besides the usual telephoto lens images I also used a telephoto zoom of 150-600 focal length, because I wanted to take pictures of the animals with the approaching surf. I had great luck in Upper Lusatia. In an old oak tree I could discover the tree hole of a Tawny Owl. I had to take the chance and so I got some very nice motives on two days.

Roe Deer photos - Our least deer species is one of my favorite photo subjects, 14 Dec 2020

In spite of good wind and camouflage, the Roebuck becomes aware of me, fortunately he quickly loses interest and continues to eat calmlyAn old acquaintance, already 5 days before I was able to photograph the Roebuck in this part of the districtStrained, curious and attentive watching, the Roe Deer doe moves in my direction, the reason is a noise caused by me, fortunately I am not discovered thanks to my camouflageAlmost unnoticed a Roe Deer doe suddenly stands in front of my hiding place, the high vegetation on the forest clearing offers good coverThe last photo of the Roebuck, then he goes into the protective cover and while he slowly moves away he barks extensivelyUnexpected encounter with a Roe Deer fawn in a forest, the astonishment was on both sides at that moment

The Roe Deer photography is one of my favorites. At first pics from the behaviour and otherwise many photos from different bucks are my target, too.

Mammal photos - The newest pics from mammels, 10 Dec 2020

Feeding sites set up by hunters are not only popular for Wild Boars, this well-nourished Red Squirrel shows that the daily food seems to be goodWolf paw print in the sand at the border of a large heath in DenmarkContact between Red Deer hind and calf while a second hind is approaching, one of the females will surely be the motherIn the early morning some Red deer hinds move with their calves through a pond, the last calf seems undecided but is actually waiting for the motherDespite a big handicap this Red Squirrel is in good shape, the eye on the other side of the face is missingUnfortunately I cannot avoid it and more Red Deer stags become aware of me, the feeling in such situations is always an oppressive one, because at any moment the animals can escape

The work on the Red Deer pictures is going on. Also outside the rut many pictures could be exposed. I am especially happy about the new photos of Red Deer calves.
Helge wishes you a lot of fun viewing the images.

Scenery photographs from Germany - New pictures from german nature landscapes, 16 Nov 2020

Photographed against the fog, the autumnal colours of the Common Beeches shine particularly impressivelyYoung Common Beeches can form real thickets, these also offer good cover to larger forest wildlife like Roe Deers and Wild BoarsThe next strong wind will let the bright autumn leaves of the Common Beeches fall to the groundThe colorful autumn leaves of the Common Beeches are still shining until the wind, which is omnipresent in Schleswig-Holstein, blows the leaves off the treesIn July the poisonous Hoary Ragwort blooms in large stands in a former gravel pitThe colourful autumn leaves of the Common Beeches form a beautiful contrast to the brown of the Bracken

There are a few new landscape pictures and I hope that I can work on the still unprocessed images in the coming weeks.

Red Deer rut 2019 and 2020, 07 Nov 2020

This Red Deer stag, or more precisely, the antlers of this stag I already noticed last year, strongly developed brow tines, bez tines and tres tines, while the rest of the antlers is rather smallBadly camouflaged, we are quickly discovered, the Red Deer stag has become aware of us, while the females and calves are still relaxed browseOnly shadowy you could see the Red Deer hinds in the morning fog, luckily the autofocus of the camera had no problemsThe last photo of this impressive Red Deer stag, a short time later he scents me and disappears in the direction he came fromThe last picture of the Red Deer rut 2020, a stag with a particularly pronounced rutting maneThis photo was taken in a Red Deer area unknown to me until now, the rutting activity under good light conditions was impressive, even this still young stag was actively roaring

With a delay of more than a year, finally the photos of the Red Deer rut 2019 are online. The result of the first location is rather low in terms of the number of good motives. Nevertheless, I am happy about the pictures, because they give some intimate insights into the mostly secret life of this species. Now also the pictures of the second location are online. The amount of pictures is manageable, but as a result of only one day of photography it is quite satisfying. Now also the photos of the third and last location are finished.
The photos of the Red Deer rut 2020 are ready. Unfortunately, there are not many images, but it was still funny.

We were put together with all creatures on this earth. All these creatures, also the smallest grasses and the biggest trees are a family with us. All of us are brothers and sisters and we have the same value on this earth.
